Mr. Rowans has been a lecturer at the institution since 2007. He was Vice-Principal between 2010-2018. He has been Principal since October 2018. Mr. Rowans is a qualified Attorney-at-Law and runs his own private practice. Mr. Rowans holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of London. He also earned a Legal Education Certificate (LEC) from Hugh Wooding Law School, St. Augustine, Trinidad as well as a Master of Laws (LLM) Degree from the University of London. He is also the holder of the Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from the University of London. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Philosophy in Law at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine.
Prior to his tenure at the institution, Mr. Rowans served as a teacher at Barrackpore West Secondary School. There he was awarded the Teacher’s Award just after one (1) year. Mr. Rowans is also a University of London Worldwide Recognised Tutor. He was a Tutor in Jurisprudence and Public International law at the Faculty of law, The UWI, St. Augustine, and is currently an Associate Tutor at Hugh Wooding Law School, St. Augustine.
Mr. Rowans has obdurate passion and commitment to his students and the study of law. He is proactive, avant-garde and results-oriented. Undeniably, this has led to the huge successes enjoyed by students every year. Courses taught by Mr. Rowans include: Criminal Law, European Union Law, Jurisprudence and Legal Theory, Civil and Criminal Procedure, Evidence, Public Law and International Protection of Human Rights.
